“Maps are everywhere around us, ever present to help us navigate both public and personal geographies, or orient ourselves in communal and universal landscapes. But all maps come with an agenda—as much as maps can reveal about a place or idea, maps also have the power to hide or distort truths.

The Fathering Festival celebrated fathers, supporting them towards fuller and deeper engagement in their childrens’ lives and in building more equitable parenting practices with mothers and other parenting partners.

Philadelphia Assembled has a project-specific graphic identity, created in collaboration with Rotterdam-based graphic design studio, 75B, that functions as a unifying point of departure for project collaborators to embrace and use.

Grounded While Walls Fall profiles practices of resilience and spiritual grounding among organizers, cultural workers, and movement builders in Greater Philadelphia. Documentary portraits orbit a central question, “What practices keep you grounded in your work for social change?” to explore spirituality, care of self and community, and inner power at the grassroots.

Presented in the Perelman Building exhibition in four parts—Fight Back!, Philadelphia Spaces: A Program from Scribe, Youth Star Rising, and Grounded While Walls Fall—these films revealed connections among the five Philadelphia Assembled atmospheres, weaving together and recognizing layers of intersection in their ongoing work to connect diverse communities through sharing space, experiences, and ideas.

Journalist and public broadcasting producer Elisabeth Perez-Luna conducted interviews with artists and other participants in each atmosphere working group about their vision, their work, and their plans for Philadelphia Assembled.

While Philadelphia Assembled was at the Perelman Building, there were new smells and tastes emerging from the Philadelphia Assembled Kitchen. Imagined by Pascale Boucicaut, Kristin Schwab, and Shanti Mayers, together with cooks from across Philadelphia, the cafe was transformed into a Philadelphia-based culinary experience.

In the project's second phase during the summer 2017, elements of the PHLA public sites moved in a public procession from the city to the Museum’s Perelman Building. Conceived by Keir Johnston and Ernel Martinez of the artistic collaborative, Amber Art & Design, this series of performances was collectively titled, Visages of the Underground.

The Youth Dream Trust was a core of youth from across the project that were tied to various organizations and youth-specific groups, that came together to collectively engage in thinking about Philadelphia and its acts of resilience.
