I am a black, female fiber and mixed media artist. I invite the audience to consider our interconnection while addressing some of the social and political issues that divide us. Rooted in the spirit of community and our collective desire for sanctuary, my work begins with a crocheted or knitted form that is later embellished with mixed media, including paper, beads, shells and found objects. For me, fiber is a metaphor for our connection, entanglements and potential.
