In February of 2016 I embarked upon a creative journey along with a group of beautiful people from across the city of Philadelphia to talk about this atmosphere called "Sovereignty ".

Now I have never been able to color inside the lines, but I was so intrigued by this project called Philadelphia Assembled that I was eager to attend. It was obvious from the moment that I walked into the loft that this enthusiasm around the word "Sovereignty" was shared by everyone in the room.

We greeted each other with warm embraces, even though for most of us this was our first encounter. My eyes scanned the room for Jeanne van Heeswijk the artist that had developed the project in collaboration with the Philadelphia Museum of Art. There she was, this individual that had used art to create spaces where people could talk about a variety of topics, especially conversations around political, social, and economic justice. Wow, Jeanne van Heeswijk would like to work jointly with us to create an atmosphere of what Sovereignty feels like, looks like, and taste like!

SOVEIGNTY THE "WORD" AS DEFINED BY WHO? WHAT SAY ME, NO. WHAT SAY YOU? SOVERIGNTY AS DEFINED BY DICTIONARY TERMS, GOVERENCE, INDEPENDENCE, AUTONOMY, YES, MAYBE BUT NOT FOR SURE.

After 14 months on this amazing voyage...

Sovereignty feels like autonomy and independence. Freedom!

Sovereignty looks like a rainbow, an aura of liberation and self-determination.

Sovereignty taste like the foods that we shared at every meeting and event. It encompassed the voices of those that prepared it and the choices of those that partake of it.

Now tell me what does Sovereignty feels like, look like, and taste like to you?
