Serena Muthi Reed is an ethnographic artist working in sound, visual media, public art, and design. Reed was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1977 and raised in Philadelphia during the early 80s & ‘90s where they grew up with industrial ruin, hip hop culture, and crack-cocaine as the local phenomena. Reed spent their summers in the care of elder kinfolk in Lowndes County, Alabama. From these early patterns of geographic & cultural movement, they now migrate as an artistic process, generating a constellation of works for a Black diaspora experience.
